The Wine Issue Lives On

A while back when the Tennessee General Assembly called for a special meeting regarding liquor laws, I was concerned that this was an attempt to kill the issue by giving it a little bit of attention. The issue seems to have legs. The Red White and Food sent an e-mail announcing a follow up meeting on December:

The committee plans to meet again in December, which is good news for us. It means that they’re not dropping the subject after just one meeting and want to further explore the issue. The next study committee meeting will be from 1:30 to 4:30 on Tuesday, Dec. 8 at Legislative Plaza (300 6th Ave N, Nashville).

As typical, retailers are complaing that allowing wine in grocery stores would close down businesses, which goes against studies showing that the market grows in states with less restrictive laws.

In order to liberate wine, we need to make sure that the committee knows Tennesseans want this. Click here for phone numbers of the committee members.
