Alamar,

Thanks for your comment. While there is some common ground, it's doubtful that women will ever come together as a voting bloc. That's never happened. Even at Seneca Falls, women were disagreeing with each other. The simple fact is that being the same gender is not enough to build a political movement. Ideologies and faith are much more important, and people will always base their political views on religon, upbringing, education, etc.

I also need to point out that we're two generations out from feminism. I'm sorry that you encountered challenges and misogyny in your life, but I've never been treated with anything but respect. While sexism does exist, most of the time it is directed by other women.

You claim that hatred comes from conservative women, but what about the treatment of us in the past year. Look at Michele Bachmann, Sarah Palin, Ann Coulter and Michelle Malkin. Last summer, an article was written on Playboy.com about the top ten conservative women that a man would like to hate-f---k. It took two weeks and national outrage for NOW to respond. That is unacceptable.

Abortion is a dividing line. However, liberal feminists fail to even try to understand it from our position. With access to birth control today, there is simply no need for abortion. To me, abortion is a religious issue not a political one. There is no debate. Once a life is created, it deserves all rights and opportunities whether that life is in utero or not. Conservative women will never budge. As far as gay people, it's a similar issue. When matters of faith conflict with politics, it's always messy. My faith teaches that homosexuality is always wrong. I don't believe in hating people or violence, but society needs to define write and wrong. Abortion and homosexuality fall within wrong.

I would encourage you to read this post about how feminists treated Sarah Palin and the post that I wrote yesterday on Carol Shea-Porter.

First let me say that I am a Hispanic, Liberal Democrat & feminist.
I am still deep in Leslie Sanchez's #LWM while also reading her first book...Los Republicanos. I honor and respect Leslie's position as a Conservative Republican. I consider her a friend(virtual):) I disagree with some of her political positions and I'm totally with her on her quest for women empowerment in politics.

Having said that, I am still not clear what Leslie means by a Conservative Feminist, who has traditional Conservative values, except that it involves the Abortion Choice issue and degradation of The Gays.
She does not seem to value the 'bra-burning' feminists, as she calls them. I burned my bras once upon a time.
I was born in the 1940's and confronted Misogyny, Sexism, Racism & Bigotry most of my life. But especially in my 20's&30's in the workplace. I did my share of backing the early feminists of my time.
I fought for jobs that were said to be a 'Man's Job' and got the jobs both because of my skills, talent & experience...and EEOC. Hard fought wins in my late 20's and 30's for which I was richly rewarded, by the Corporations I worked for.

You ask the question "why do feminists hate Conservative women?"
I ask, "Why do Conservative women hate Liberal Feminists?"

I believe the answer lies partly in how we, women, have been conditioned by those who reared us, and especially the men who have had the ability to decide the value of Women.
We, women, can be our own worst enemies. We can be highly competitive and terratorial.
We, all too often, agree with Men, that Men are more valuable than Women. We have an inherent belief that we, women, can not take care of ourselves, that we need a man/partner to take care of us. That is changing in the current generation.

When I take on this subject, my brain does cartwheels, like Physics Math classes.

If we can take some of the hot political issues out of our political quest, like Choice, and come together as Women, free to believe what we believe, without making each other try to believe what we believe ... then maybe we can come together as the voting bloc: WOMEN.
