Glad I missed this
On Twitter, I joked about camping out to see Sarah Palin at her appearance in Fairfax. My mom even toyed with the idea of driving up to camp out with me.
After freezing rain and snow, I’m thankful that I didn’t. The first person in line waited 23 hours according to the Washington Post.
At the front of the long line to greet Palin was Ron Wolf, 68, of Sterling. The retired auto service shop foreman arrived at the store at noon Friday. “She’s for the Constitution,” said Wolf, who wants Palin to run for president in 2012. “She’s for everything I’m for. She’s got backbone.”
Wow. That’s devotion. In order to see her, I would have had to leave work early on Friday and camp out all night. Plus, I would have missed Mount Vernon. And I thought that we were tough last year after standing in line for about five hours to meet Sarah Palin, when she hugged me!

Perhaps my memories are fuzzy, but did people camp out in the freezing rain to meet Bill or Hillary Clinton at their book signings?
*That’s my favorite photo of Palin from the Saxby Chambliss rally because she’s laughing and the Chambliss staffer looks so pissed off. It captures the DC perspective on Palin perfectly.
