However, Mrs. Obama seems to be doing this at the expense of important duties as First Lady. It's inexcusable to send out invitations late to a Christmas party. Obama has a staff considerably larger than Laura Bush's, yet Laura Bush always made sure that the necessary actions were completed. The East Wing staff seems to be in over their heads. For example, the Obama's gave Queen Elizabeth II an ipod, when she knowingly had received one from her grandchildren. Contrast that to what the Bushes gave her: a leather box filled with the correspondence between the Queen's father and President Roosevelt. I think it's apparent that inexperienced people are running the White House. Social graces and protocol may seem silly, but they are important to America's image and keep feathers from getting ruffled like with the White House Press Corps. She was hula hooping as part of an event to promote healthy diets and activity among children. She uses her garden as an educational tool for the same purpose. It's not like she just does this stuff solely for her own enjoyment. What is wrong with that?
